Breakthrough Communities: Sustainability and Justice in the Next American Metropolis
- an evening with Carl Anthony and Paloma Pavel

Tuesday, August 11 – San Francisco: Join us for a special evening with Ford Foundation Fellow, Founder of the Urban Habitat Program , one of the oldest environmental justice organizations in the country, and luminary, Carl Anthony  and author, consultant and community development visionary, Paloma Pavel. To protect rainforests and the natural world, those of us who live in the industrialized world, must change the way we live in and build our cities.  We are the entrusted guardians of our metropolitan places, our inner city neighborhoods, and our suburban and rural communities. We must confront and transform the legacy of racism embedded in our cities into what Martin Luther King called “the beloved community.” A new social movement based upon this vision, a counter to the old story of urban sprawl, racial segregation and concentrated poverty, is emerging in the United States.  At its heart is an image of just, beautiful and green urban places, shaped by engaged and spiritually grounded, urban residents.

Doors open at 6:30, no host dinner. Introduction to the work of the Pachamama Alliance following by the guest speakers.
